The Decline Of Print On Demand Sites Redbubble, Society6, and Teepublic

Recently, many print-on-demand sites are going into decline. Some sites have changed how artists make money on their designs. They have included account tier fees as more fees for selling your art. If more print-on-demand sites keep doing this and copying each other then these sites will lose many artists and find a new site to share their art.

Redbubble: I started selling my designs on this platform since December 2019. I made ok money from this but it takes lots of time. Once you create your design it can be uploaded to these platforms. Then you promote your shop on social media platforms. A few months ago Redbubble now has account tiers. What this means is If your account is doing well and getting lots of sales you will have fewer fees. I thought this was annoying because the artist's margins are already low.

Society6: This platform used to be decent but now it's worse. Recently this site has limited how many designs you can upload unless you pay a monthly fee. Their free basic plan is only 10 designs and you can't upload any more than that per account. The more money you pay the more designs you can upload. Now if many print-on-demand sites start to do this then I don't see many artists using these platforms.

Teepublic: This site Redbubble owns and they also have account tiers. Also, your designs won't be seen in their search bar unless you write them and they approve your designs.

How do we fix this problem, It's simple either go to your local print shop and sell them yourselves or stop doing print-on-demand in general and move on to something else. Sadly, this is happening and maybe in the future, someone will build a print-on-demand site that won't have these fees and perform better than the others.
